Summer Fun
I can’t believe I’ve only posted nine times this summer, but I guess it’s just a testament to how busy we’ve been and how much fun I’ve been having with the boys. There are a few more things on our bucket list I hope to do in the next two weeks, but for the most part, every science experiment, craft, activity, program or pool we’ve wanted to see, do or swim in has been done! We dissected a hermit crab, sorted shells from the beach, played with the magical jelly beadz, defrosted our snow block from winter and turned it into Planet Hoth from Star Wars, went to the dentist (some more successfully than others!), played world cup soccer with our awesome new balls from our great uncles, accepted the ALS ice bucket challenge from Aunt Maria and helped raised $1.56 million (and an incalculable amount of positive energy!) in a matter of weeks, had countless playdates and a sleepover with our expat friend Harry, attempted to become mushroom farmers, braved the germs at Chuck E. Cheese, celebrated birthdays, attended science programs at the library, worked on our preschool and 2nd grade workbooks from Grandma, splashed at Great Waves with our best friends, made homemade pink lemonade ice pops...WHEW!!! I’m exhausted just thinking of it all, but I hope the boys had fun and that I kept their little minds and bodies moving.
Most importantly, I was reminded every day how lucky I am to be able to stay home with them every day and forgo the summer daycare shuffle that can be such a challenge this time of year. There is just nothing like quality time with your babies, watching them play and learn together, making their own fun out of even the simplest things, like the excitement of a car wash, or the pride in helping Mommy at the grocery store, or the joy in using their newly acquired berm-building skills to make their own defensive barriers at home.
It’s been such a special summer and I hate to see it end..but for now, it’s back to squeezing in every last ounce of togetherness that we can at Mommy Camp. I sure hope the campers come back next year.
Love you, my baby boys!!!
